Welcome to the Swiss Ski School's Frequently Asked Questions

Here you'll find quick answers to the most frequently asked questions.

How can I book a course?

Bookings are best made online via the Boukii platform.

As long as you can book online, there's still room.

Payment is made online before the course, using any credit card, Postcard or Twint. You will then receive a confirmation e-mail with all the relevant information.

How to proceed
  1. Go to the platform.
  2. Use the filters to select the type of lesson you're interested in (group or private, ski or snowboard).
  3. Use the calendar to navigate to the period in which you'd like to book a lesson.
  4. Available courses are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Click on the one that interests you
    1. For group lessons, choose your level in the next step.
  5. Log in to your Boukii account or create one in your own name.
  6. Then select the user, i.e. the person who will be taking the course. If this is not you, you can easily create a new user, for your child for example.
  7. For group lessons, choose your child's level:
    1. If they've never skied or skied very little: Snowgarden for 3 to 5 year-olds, beginners from age 6
    2. If he/she has already taken a course at a Swiss ski school, the last level attained
    3. If they've never taken a course, you'll find a description of the learning objectives for each level below in this FAQ and on Boukii.
    4. If you're not sure, it's best to enroll your child in the level below. It's more motivating to move your child up a level than to have to move them to a less advanced group.
  8. For private lessons, you don't need to choose a level, as the instructor adapts to the student's level.
  9. Choose whether you want to be able to cancel or reschedule your lesson free of charge right up to the last moment, thanks to the refund option, which amounts to 10% of the price.
  10. Click on "Add to basket
  11. If you wish to add another group or private lesson or another student to the same course, click on "Add another booking".
  12. When you are ready to proceed to payment, accept the booking conditions, then click on "Finalize and pay".
  13. A new window will open to a secure platform, where you can pay by credit card, Postcard or Twint.

You'll receive a confirmation email with all the details of your booking.

I have a gift voucher, can I use it online?

To make a reservation using a gift voucher, please contact us by email at ess@charmey.ch or by telephone on 026 927 55 25.

How do I choose the right level for my child?

Private lessons

You don't need to define a level for private lessons. The instructor adapts directly to the student's level.

Group courses

Children aged 3 to 5 attend the Snowgarden.

For children aged 6 to 15 we offer group lessons based on the levels of the Swiss Federation of Ski Schools (Swiss Snowsports). The information and videos below will help you determine your child's level.

If you're not sure about your child's level, it's best to enroll him or her in the level below. In fact, it's more motivating to move your child up a level than to have to move him/her to a less advanced group.

If the instructor notices that the level of the course is not adapted to your child (too advanced or too easy), he/she will be moved to a group whose level is more adjusted. Our group lessons take place at the same times, so there's no need for you to change your schedule.

Is it possible to take only part of the group classes?

Yes, it is possible to take part in only part of the group lessons package, but only the lessons at the beginning of the series. This avoids too great a difference in level between students, and guarantees that the instructor will be able to meet the learning objectives at the end of the series.

To register for part of the group lessons, please contact us by e-mail at ess@charmey.ch or by telephone on 026 927 55 25.

If I enroll my child in a private class, will he be with other children?

No, in private lessons, the instructor will only teach one person or group. In fact, you can choose to register several people who will take the lesson together.

Please note that participants must be of a similar level. We also advise against registering a child and an adult together, even if they have the same level, as the exercises are not the same.

Can I attend my child's class?

No, unfortunately parents are not allowed in the Snow Garden area for the duration of the course.

This ensures that children are fully focused on their learning and can make the best progress during the course.

Where is the meeting point at the beginning and end of the course?

Private lessons

The meeting point for private lessons is at the top of the gondola 5 minutes before the scheduled lesson time. The course also ends at the top of the gondola.

Group courses

For morning group lessons, which start at 9:45am, the meeting point is at the bottom of the gondola at 9:10am. The course ends at 11:45 am at the top of the gondola*.

For afternoon group lessons, which start at 2:00 pm, the meeting point is at the top of the gondola at 1:45 pm*. The course ends at 4:00 pm at the top of the gondola*.

* Up to 8 years of age, children must be brought to the meeting point by an adult and picked up at the top of the gondola at the end of the course.

From 6 years of age, children can take the gondola on their own only with the explicit authorization of a parent (to be given to the instructor present or at the gondola reception desk).

We offer a free return ticket to one adult per family to accompany a child under 8 years of age.

Do I have to accompany my child to the top of the gondola?

Children under 8 must be brought by an adult to the meeting point (at the foot of the gondola in the morning and at the top of the gondola in the afternoon) and picked up at the top of the gondola at the end of the course.

We offer a free return ticket for one adult per family to accompany a child under 8 years of age.

Children aged 6 and over may take the gondola on their own only with the explicit authorization of a parent (to be given to the instructor present or at the gondola reception desk).

What are the additional fees?

Lifts are free for children up to 6 years of age and Magic Pass holders.

From the age of 6, there are several options available:

1-day price : includes all area facilities.
4-hour sliding rate : includes all the ski area's facilities. It starts when you pass the first terminal at the bottom of the gondola. The gondola descent can be made at any time if you wish to enjoy the summit after your pass has expired.
5-day package: ideal for group lessons, as it offers a significant discount over the week.

1-day and 4-hour passes can be purchased online or at the gondola reception desk. The 5-day pass can be purchased at the gondola reception desk on the first day of the course or in advance.

Can I modify or move a course?

It is possible to change or reschedule a lesson 48 hours before the date booked, preferably by email to ess@charmey.ch or by telephone on 026 927 55 25.

After 48 hours, the lesson can only be rescheduled if the customer has subscribed to the refund option at the time of booking, which amounts to 10% of the lesson price.

These conditions also apply if you wish to add or remove a participant from a private lesson.

What are the cancellation conditions?

In the event of the student's absence at the start of the lesson, the price of the lesson will not be refunded and the lesson will not be exchanged for another.

In the event of illness or accident, the customer undertakes to notify the school of the absence as soon as possible, but no later than 1 hour before the start of the lesson. The lesson can only be postponed or refunded if the refund option has been taken out at the time of booking
