The legend

Logo Bounè Rodzo
Bounè Rodzo

Every summer in the alpine pastures of Charmey, a little character called the Bounè Rodzo appears to help the mountain farmers. He guards the herds, looks after the vegetable garden, helps with the housework and the cheese making. He likes to be quiet and is rather modest. He performs all these tasks with the utmost discretion.

In exchange for these good services, he is content with a bowl of milk and some soup at the end of the day.

Although furtive, the Bounè Rodzo is also mischievous. Beware of the peasant who forgets to feed him or tries to catch a glimpse of him. In order to get even, the little elf would do one silly thing after another. He might forget to close the cow fence, trample the garden, knock over the milk cans or trip the farmer.

At the end of September, with winter approaching, the herds returned to the plain and the Bounè Rodzo finished its summer mission. In order to keep himself busy during the winter, we suggested that he settle not far from our summit, at the foot of the Dents-Vertes ! He now has all the time in the world to enjoy his new village, to welcome our visitors and to share a lot of activities with them. Beware, you are not safe from being subjected to some of his pranks !

PS: The parents are also good actors in this Gruyère legend! Bounè Rodzo always has a good back 😉
